Team Sarasota Archery Academy Shines at Florida ASA State Championship

Team Sarasota Archery Academy proudly represented at the 2025 Florida ASA State Championship, held at the beautiful Gator Bowman Archery Club in Gainesville, Florida. Over the course of the weekend, our athletes took on two full rounds of 15 Delta McKenzie 3D targets—challenging, lifelike setups designed to test every aspect of an archer’s skill.

This wasn’t just another local tournament. The Florida ASA State Championship is one of the most competitive 3D archery events in the state, drawing youth and adult archers from across Florida. Each shot matters, and every competitor faces a broad mix of target sizes, angles, and distances—all under real-world outdoor conditions. From mental focus to shot execution, it’s a true test of readiness and consistency.

Despite these high-level conditions, Team Sarasota delivered outstanding results.

We’re proud to announce the incredible accomplishments of our youth athletes, who showcased not only top-tier skill but also sportsmanship, resilience, and composure under pressure:

• Bowen Gilbert – 1st Place Youth Open Boys and awarded Shooter of the Year
• Jaxon Gilbert – 2nd Place Youth Open Boys
• Noelle Henderson – 1st Place Youth Open Girls and Shooter of the Year
• Jesse Kyle – 1st Place Young Adult Open Male
• Olivia Markun – 1st Place Eagle Open Girls
• Aaro Gilbert – 2nd Place Eagle Open Boys

🎯 The Challenge of 3D Archery

For those unfamiliar, 3D archery involves shooting at foam animal targets placed in natural terrain. Unlike standard range targets, 3D courses introduce elevation changes, shadows, and environmental variables that demand advanced judgment of distance and shot placement. In this event, each archer faced two rounds of 15 targets—a total of 30 scored shots—with minimal room for error.

All competitors shot Delta McKenzie 3D targets, the industry standard for ASA events. Scoring rings are tight and specific, which rewards archers who train with precision and attention to detail.
